Vibe Check: Are You and Baby Stressing Each Other Out?
Nov 20, 2025
If you’ve ever tried babywearing during a stressful moment and felt like your hands were shaking or your brain was short-circuiting, you’re not alone. Learning babywearing can feel overwhelming: there are straps, buckles, rings, knots, and at least two humans with big feelings in the mix.
Your baby feels your energy. Not in a magical, woo-woo way but in a very real, biological way. Babies are wired to pick up on the emotional cues of their caregivers. If you’re tense, they often respond with tension of their own. If you're feeling unsure, they may become unsettled too.
This doesn’t mean you have to be perfect (because spoiler: you won’t be). It does mean that taking a breath can shift everything. It signals to your body and brain that you're safe, and it helps your baby feel safe too.
Next time you’re trying something new or trying to calm a fussy baby, pause. Inhale. Exhale slowly. Tell yourself, We’re just learning. We’re okay. Then say it again, out loud, to your baby.
Be patient with yourself. Babywearing is a skill, and like all new skills, it takes time. You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You and your baby are figuring it out together, and this is exactly how it’s supposed to go.
